Saint Johns of God Community Service CLG
Saint Johns of Gods community services CLG is funded by the HSE to provide supports to people with an intellectual disabilities and mental health issues. Within the South Dublin they are mandated to support children with all levels of intellectual disabilities from birth to old age.
I am very fortunate that for the last two weeks of August 2018 I was able to commence and complete my SEN placement in Saint John of Gods . As part of this placement I was paired with one Pme student and one other BA student . We were fortunate enough to teach a wide variety of users with a range of abilities .The users fostered a wide understanding of art making process through the experimentation of sound art, collagraph printing, clay tile making and various painting techniques

Special Educational Needs
As part of the beginning of 2nd year both BA/PME students were extremely lucky to be given the oppournity to participate in a Special Educational Needs school placement . All students were split into groups and learned to work collaboratively to plan, deliver and present schemes that are achievable or all abilities but challenged the service users
